ANNOUNCING: YOUNG INDIGENOUS WRITERS’ PRIZE
Dawnland Voices has always included young and emerging writers. This year, we are offering a new writing contest, with prizes of $500 for the best submission in poetry and $500 for the best submission in prose. The winning entries will be the lead article in our next issue of Dawnland Voices 2.0.
Editor Mihku Paul will select other strong submissions for publication in that issue, with an anticipated publication date of May 2021. The winner and all writers selected for publication will be invited to participate in a Facebook Live reading event and celebration, along with established Indigenous writers, in June 2021.
This contest is open to young Indigenous writers up to the age of 25. We especially encourage writers from the Northeast but are open to all submissions from across Turtle Island. To enter, send submissions to dawnlandvoices@gmail.com no later than midnight April 15. We will accept up to 3 poems per entrant, or prose pieces (stories or essays) of no more than 3000 words.
